Alerts

Admins only

Contributors can ask Scriblet to tell them when something on the calendar is set or changes. See Calendar alerts for how that works for them.

In the console, alerts are called watches. You can see everyone’s, and add, change or remove them for a contributor.

The top of the Watches page, Automatic links, is about something else: giving calendar items their links on web pages. See Automatic links.

Watches lists every contributor who has an alert, with a Manage link for each.

To see one person’s, choose the bell (Watches) on their row in People.

Each watch shows:

  • what it tells them about, like “sermon and scripture”
  • Every week, or one date
  • Text or Email
  • whether it’s Active, Sent or Suspended

A suspended watch is waiting, either because they texted STOP or because your subscription has ended. It starts again when that’s fixed.

Watches for a date that has passed drop off the list.

  1. Open the contributor’s watches and choose Add watch.
  2. Under Tell them about, tick the items. You can watch service items and duties, but not announcements or events.
  3. Under When, choose Every week or One date.
  4. Under How, choose Email or Text message.
  5. Choose Add.

It starts straight away. If what they’re watching is already set, they hear about it right away.

Text message is only offered once they’ve texted START. Until then, use email.

Choose the pencil on a weekly watch to change its items, or between text and email. Choose Update.

A one-date watch can’t be changed. Remove it and add a new one.

Choose the red delete button on the watch, then Remove. They won’t be told about it any more.

When you remove someone from People, all their watches end too.
